Measures to prevent further suicide bombing of churches in Nigerian city unveiled - Security chiefs and government officials in Nigeria's northern Plateau state, the capital of which has experienced the bombing of several churches in recent times, have announced measures to prevent a recurrence.
One of such measures is the restriction of vehicular movement around houses of worship during service
“On Sundays and Fridays, all roads leading to all worship centres must be totally blocked or diverted. No vehicle should have access or park near any worship centre during service, State Police Commissioner Dipo Ayeni told journalists in Jos Tuesday.
He also announced plans to erect perimetre fences around worship centres in the state, while every worshipper will be thoroughly checked before being allowed into the centres.
The decisions were taken after a meeting of top security officials as well as state government representatives in the capital city.
At least two churches in Jos have been attacked by suicide bombers riding in explosive-rigged vehicles within the past month, leaving many parishioners dead and injured.
